Hourly Rate: $75/hr on C2C

About the Team:

The Group Benefits API Team is responsible for developing and integrating APIs that support web applications in the customer’s Group Business. These APIs power various customer-facing intake channels such as portals, call centers, IVRs, and chatbots, creating a seamless and unified customer experience. We are growing our team and looking for a skilled Lead Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java-based technologies who is passionate about delivering high-quality software.

We build and maintain APIs that integrate with various business processes such as Quote, Policy, Customer, Eligibility, and Claims. Our solutions empower multiple business channels and enable a unified customer experience.

Your Role:

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will:

• Lead an agile team as part of an Agile Release Train.
• Build robust, scalable software integration solutions that are production-ready.
• Engineer application integrations using messaging solutions, events, and REST APIs.
• Collaborate closely with Business Teams and Solution Architects to ensure alignment with the Product Roadmap and design blueprint.
• Mentor and coach developers and analysts, assign tasks, perform code reviews, and maintain industry-standard processes.
• Triage end-to-end system integration issues across various middleware systems and infrastructure.

Your Expertise:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 15+ years of experience as a J2EE Software Engineer.
• Deep understanding of Agile and SAFE Methodologies.
• Expertise in implementing REST APIs, Microservices Architecture, Enterprise Integration Patterns, and Event-Driven Architecture.
• Experience with Open API Swagger Specifications for designing user-friendly APIs.
• Proven experience integrating with messaging platforms like ActiveMQ, IBM MQ.
• Knowledge of Docker containers and AWS Cloud services (S3, Lambda, SQS/SNS, Redis Cache).
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL Databases.
• Experience with Apache Camel, Tibco Business Works, MuleSoft, or similar EAI frameworks.
• Familiarity with Rules engines like OpenL, Drools, or Blaze.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Maven.
• Proficiency in API Security frameworks, token management, and user access control (OAuth 2.0, JWT).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as AppDynamics and Zenoss.
