🔧 What You’ll Be Doing

This role is focused on building test infrastructure and intelligent automation tooling to enable faster, safer, and more scalable development practices across Coinbase.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and build backend testing infrastructure that scales across teams and services
• Create automated testing strategies across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels
• Leverage AI/ML to detect flaky tests, self-heal failures, and increase test reliability
• Identify bottlenecks in engineering workflows and build tools to streamline development
• Work cross-functionally to define test quality and product health metrics
• Evangelize and enforce testing best practices across the engineering org

✅ Requirements

Must-Have:

• 5+ years in backend software engineering
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and building scalable production services
• Strong understanding of testability, automation, and testing for both functional and non-functional requirements
• Able to write high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code
• Passion for building infrastructure that enables engineers and enhances product quality

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience scaling teams from startup to mid-size
• Familiar with A/B testing, growth experimentation, and feature flag strategies
• Experience breaking apart a monolith into microservices
• Proficiency with Golang, Ruby, Rails, Docker, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
• Exposure to fintech, high-availability systems, or security-first development
• Familiarity with blockchain concepts (e.g., Ethereum, ENS, dApps)
