Job Overview

Coinbase is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join the Crypto Data Foundation - Core team. This team builds and maintains Web3 infrastructure that powers our crypto data ecosystem, ensuring efficient, scalable, and low-latency access to blockchain data. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and develop distributed systems and foundational backend components that drive the success of our platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable distributed systems for handling vast amounts of blockchain data.
• Provide technical leadership by defining strategic roadmaps and ensuring best practices.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with strong problem-solving skills.
• Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
• Design and implement foundational infrastructure components, including configuration management, container orchestration, and secret storage.
• Write high-quality, well-tested backend code to support a reliable and secure crypto data ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on backend development.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems or data systems (experience with crypto is a plus).
• Proven experience architecting and developing scalable solutions for complex problems.
• Proficiency in Golang, Kafka, Redis, S3, Clickhouse, MongoDB, or similar technologies.
• Passion for building an indexing platform that bridges Web3 and Web2.
• Strong ability to work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with evolving challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling engineering teams from 10 to 100+ engineers.
• Knowledge of blockchain technologies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other Web3 platforms.
• Familiarity with decomposing monolithic architectures into microservices.
• Background in financial systems, security, or high-reliability applications.
• Hands-on experience with on-chain activity such as Ethereum addresses, ENS, and dApps.
