About the Role:

Udemy is looking for a Senior UX Researcher to join their team and help define the future of learning. As a Strategic Design Researcher, you'll work closely with product, UX, and strategy teams to uncover deep insights about learners, educators, and digital education experiences. This role is perfect for someone with a background in design consultancy or innovation strategy who is passionate about transforming learning through research and design.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Conduct Design Research: Lead contextual inquiries, ethnographic studies, co-creation workshops to uncover insights about learners and educators in digital learning environments.
• Strategic Thinking & Problem Framing: Apply strategic design methodologies (e.g., double diamond) to map ecosystems, frame problems, and identify innovation opportunities.
• Research Synthesis: Synthesize findings into strategic frameworks, journey maps, and service blueprints to guide product and business strategy.
• Facilitate Workshops: Lead collaborative sessions with cross-functional teams, using design thinking to drive alignment and ideation.
• Insight Communication: Translate research into compelling narratives and actionable recommendations for product, UX, and strategy teams.
• User Advocacy: Be the voice of the user, advocating for human-centered design and ensuring user needs are central to decision-making across the organization.

What You’ll Need:

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in strategic design research, service design, or innovation consulting, ideally in EdTech or digital product design.
• Research Methods Expertise: Experience with qualitative research methods (ethnography, contextual inquiry, diary studies) and familiarity with quantitative methods (A/B testing, surveys, etc.).
• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to translate research findings into clear, actionable insights and communicate them visually and verbally to diverse stakeholders.
• Collaboration: Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and influence product and design strategies.
• Tool Familiarity: Experience with research and design tools like Miro, Figma, Notion, and Adobe CC.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in design research strategy, innovation strategy, or design consultancy.
• Experience navigating complex, cross-functional environments.
