Overview:

Lead a backend-focused engineering team building resilient, high-performance trading APIs for Coinbase Prime. Ensure 99.99% uptime for institutional clients through robust system architecture, low-latency data streaming, and critical user flows like trading, order management, and market data.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of 5–6 engineers; establish strong team norms and execution practices
• Own product areas including Prime Public APIs, FIX protocols, and Trading Router
• Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Product, and Ops
• Define and monitor performance metrics; troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Coach team members and foster high engineering standards
• Participate in recruitment and talent development

Requirements:

• Experience managing backend or full-stack engineering teams
• Strong technical judgment and experience in distributed systems
• Proven ability to collaborate with product, QA, and stakeholders
• Skilled in building systems for scale in cloud environments

Nice to Have:

• Experience with trading systems or financial APIs
• Hands-on architecture or systems design expertise
