About the Role:

Guidewire is looking for an API/Micro-Services Engineer to join their team in building and maintaining event-driven micro-services. This role will focus on designing, architecting, and developing APIs for Guidewire's NextGen HazardHub micro-services ecosystem, which provides comprehensive risk data for the property & casualty (P&C) insurance industry.

You’ll be involved in all stages of API development—from prototype to production—while collaborating with GIS analysts and product teams. Your expertise in API technologies and cloud services will be crucial in helping guide architectural decisions and ensuring the efficiency and security of Guidewire’s systems.

What You’ll Do:

• Design & Develop: Build and maintain geospatial APIs and micro-services to serve hazard data.
• Collaborate: Work closely with GIS analysts and product teams to define API requirements.
• Infrastructure as Code: Write application and infrastructure code (IaC) for all stages of API development.
• Maintain Codebases: Work with languages like Go, Python, Scala, and Ruby to maintain existing systems.
• Scalability: Build stable, scalable, and efficient backend services for high performance.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Process CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot live systems, debug issues, and improve API performance.
• Security: Ensure robust API security and authentication mechanisms.

What You Bring:

• Experience: 5+ years of experience with enterprise-level APIs and micro-services.
• Education: BS in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• API & Micro-Services:
• Strong understanding of API best practices, architectures, integration styles, and platforms.
• Proficiency with REST, OpenAPI, Protocol Buffers, and similar technologies.
• Programming Skills: Experience with languages like Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or Scala (Go is highly desirable).
• Cloud Experience: Proficiency with GCP or AWS cloud services and Docker, Kubernetes containerization.
• SCM & CI/CD: Proficient with Git, GitHub Actions, and continuous integration workflows.
• Databases: Proficiency with SQL (PostgreSQL, PostGIS experience is a plus).
• Infrastructure: Familiarity with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) is a plus.
• Bonus: Familiarity with risk models and data constructs in the insurance industry.

Compensation:

• Base Salary: $134,000 - $247,000 per year
• Bonus and Equity options
