About the Role:

Upwork, in partnership with an enterprise client in the information, services, and media sector, is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive knowledge of the Canadian Financial Services industry—specifically the CFO Approved Person role. The role involves developing exam content and shaping certification materials that assess core competencies for CFOs.

Responsibilities:

• Commit to 25–30 working days
• Review competency profiles and exam structure
• Attend 2–4 committee reviews
• Write up to 8 scenarios with 40 related questions and 50 stand-alone questions
• Review and revise questions from other SMEs
• Update questions based on feedback

Qualifications:

• Deep expertise in the Canadian Financial Services industry, particularly CFO roles
• Strong understanding of CFO regulations and responsibilities
• Experience in developing competency-based syllabuses and exams
• Familiarity with exam governance and professional assessment standards

Nice-to-Have:

• Competency mapping experience
• Prior experience in regulatory/professional exam creation
