Job Overview:

Apex Systems is seeking an experienced SAP Basis System Administrator to provide administrative support for SAP systems within a Linux-based environment. The role involves performance monitoring, troubleshooting, system upgrades, and maintaining various SAP modules, including SAP ECC 6, BI/BW, HANA, Enterprise Portal, GRC, and Gateway. The candidate will also be responsible for managing SAP systems on Azure cloud and supporting the full SAP lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• SAP System Monitoring & Administration: Monitor and manage daily SAP systems' activities (SAP ECC 6, BI/BW, HANA, Enterprise Portal, GRC, Gateway, etc.).
• Performance Tuning: Maintain and adjust SAP ECC and BW profile configurations to improve performance and resolve issues.
• Batch Job Management: Administer background processing and batch job monitoring.
• Print & Spooling Functions: Manage approximately 220 printers and configure print/spooling functions.
• Load Balancing: Oversee load balancing for application server logins and add resources as necessary during high-demand periods (e.g., month-end processing).
• Transport Management: Import SAP transports through development, QA, production, and training landscapes.
• SAP Support & Maintenance: Apply SAP support OSS notes and use SAP OSS support for research and issue resolution.
• System Environment Management: Maintain sandbox, development, QA, and training environments, including regular refreshes from production.
• Installations & Upgrades: Complete SAP system installations and provide continuous upgrades for SAP R3 kernel and other core modules.
• Database & Backup Management: Monitor database growth and performance, work with DBAs for upgrades, and perform backup/restore tasks using RMAN and CommVault.
• Security & SSL Management: Maintain SAP Enterprise Portal environment and configure SSL certificates and backend services.
• System Audits & Documentation: Coordinate with internal and external auditors for audits and provide necessary documentation for system updates.
• Database Performance: Monitor and optimize database performance, including diagnosing long-running SQL queries.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related business degree, or equivalent technical experience.
• Experience: At least 10 years of experience as an SAP Basis Administrator.
• Linux Experience: Proficiency in a Linux-based server environment, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux, with command line scripting knowledge.
• Azure Experience: Experience running SAP on Azure cloud.
• SAP Experience: In-depth experience with SAP Basis administration within SAP/R3 environments.
• SQL & Database: Proficiency in database management, troubleshooting, and performing backup/restore operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• SAP Certifications: SAP-related certifications are preferred.
• Windows Server Experience: Familiarity with a Windows-based server environment and command line scripting.
• Web Environment Expertise: Experience in managing HTTPS and SSL configuration for web environments.
• Capacity Planning: Experience in analysis and capacity planning in SAP environments.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in SAP Basis and Oracle database performance.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Work Environment: Full on-site role located in San Antonio, TX.
• Contract: 1-year contract with a potential for extension based on performance.
